PWK Carburetor

The carburetor is the engine's heart. It provides a mix of fuel and gas. Most newer dirt bike use electronic fuel injection. Its complexity makes DIY harder and maintenance more costly.

Aftermarket Keihin carburetors are available in five types: PE, PJ, PWK, PWM, and FCR. They replace Keihin OEM carburetors.

PWK carburetor is a injection device applied to dirt bike and ATV. The PE carburetor is common in civilian motorcycles. The difference is in the D-slider and round-slider. The PWK carburetor also has a power injection device. It boosts power at high RPMs and improves response.

PWK carburetors are mainly aimed at people with a high demand for power. Meanwhile, PWK carburetors are available in 28, 33, 35, 36, 38, and 39 mm throttle bores. Choosing the right bore on a 2-stroke or 4-stroke bike, dirt bike, ATV, go-kart, or DIY project can boost power. PWK carburetors exist to improve the power and throttle response from these upgrades.

PE and PWK carburetors are the same in structure. The difference is in the length of the slider and the throttle pipe. PE carburetors use round sliders, while PWK carburetors use D-shaped ones. In large bores, a round slider makes the throttle pipe too long and big. This hurts throttle response. The D-shaped sliders fix this by shortening the pipe and improving response.

"Dirty" carburetor does not mean its appearance. It means that, after long use or winter storage, dirt has accumulated in the oil bowl. This affects the needle valve, causing oil leaks and other problems. At the same time, it will affect the engine's life. Novices may find it hard to judge, based on the description, if cleaning is needed. We recommend cleaning at least once a year. Also, add a filter to the fuel line. It will block foreign objects from the carburetor and prevent failures.
